Have you heard the story of a woman who had difficulty sleeping for several years because she feared that her house would be burgled? One night, her husband heard a noise downstairs in their home, so he went to investigate. He found a burglar and with a sigh of relief, he said, “Good evening” to the burglar. “I’m glad to see you. Come upstairs and meet my wife. She has been waiting ten years to meet you.” (Joyce Meyer)
Do not worry about tomorrow. Live in the Present: Embrace Today’s Blessings and Opportunities.
By all means, set goals. Plan diligently with the energy of today and hope for tomorrow.
When you use the strength of today to worry about tomorrow’s problems instead of living, you rob yourself of God’s blessings intended for you to enjoy today.
So, embrace the good things today offers you instead of worrying about the bad things tomorrow may bring.
The greatest thief of today’s joy is the worrying attitude of what bad things tomorrow may bring.
Most of us miss out on today’s good things because we worry about bad things that may never come to pass.
Our internal dialogues and mindset from when we wake up shape our reality throughout the day.
So, If you are lucky enough to wake up in the morning, do the Five-Minute Ritual of Life
- Spend a minute taking a deep breath of life with a smile on your face and positively affirming to yourself, ‘Today is going to be a good day.’
- Spare a minute to give thanks for the gift of life.
- Take another minute to appreciate what you have.
- Take a minute to be grateful for another opportunity to be better than yesterday.
- Finally, spare a minute to think of the possibilities and the opportunities that lie ahead of you today and plan how to maximise the day with a positive attitude.
If you need to, take another minute to think of ways to put the wrongs of yesterday right.
Then go out and enjoy your day. Today is what you have. Do not dwell on yesterday’s mistakes; yesterday has gone. Do not worry about what tomorrow will be like; tomorrow is not here.
As your day draws to a close, reflect on the blessings of the day and the lesson learned; be grateful for today and be hopeful for tomorrow.
Have a great day!
